Commemorating the 150th anniversaries of the Civil War and the end of American slavery

The events played out here 150 years ago connect to lives, struggles, and accomplishments that came long before and that endure long after.
History is a rich component of Richmond’s identity, and many people work to foster it. Our civic, commercial, and professional organizations recognize that a fuller sense of history can make Richmond a better place to live and visit, while our many excellent historical organizations collaborate in support of a more cohesive historical presence in our city.

Virginia Union University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the University of Richmond are offering venues and coordination for planning in addition to their educational resources and links to our area’s past.
